Sussex Recovery College. Student Privacy Notice

 What information is being collected?

 We will be collecting the following information:

  • Contact details (including names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses)
  • Protected characteristics of students including date of birth, disability, ethnicity, medical conditions
  • Preferences and feedback related to courses
  • Information about services accessed, including GPs

 Why are we collecting it?

The purpose of collecting this information is to deliver to provide Recovery education courses and workshops

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • To provide you with safe, accessible workshops and courses
  • To inform you about our workshops and courses
  • The information provided on the registration form and in surveys helps us to understand what courses students are attending and how they are helping with mental health recovery. This analysis is done using anonymous information.
  • Supplying you with relevant information, related to your wellbeing and the work of the College (e.g through newsletters)

We will be processing your information under the following conditions:

  • Article 6 (1) (a) Explicit Consent

Where will your information be stored?

Your information is securely stored within systems managed by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. 

 Is the information shared?

 This information will be shared with:

  • Partner organisations who we co-deliver courses and workshops with; to enable us to provide a safe service and to provide anonymised data for the purposes of improving the work of the college.
  • Where we have concerns for your immediate safety or the safety of those around you we may contact your GP and/or mental health practitioner. We will always try to gain your consent first but in exceptional circumstances this may not be possible.
  • Sussex Partnership NHS Trust; anonymised data only for reporting purposes and to improve the work of the College.

Is the information transferred overseas?

Your information will not be shared overseas.

How long will we hold the information?

Your information is securely stored within systems managed by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. 

We keep your personal information for 6 years from your last registration with the College.  We will then dispose of your information by permanent deletion.

What rights do you have around your information?

You have several rights under the data protection law:

  1. Right to be informed
  2. Right of access
  3. Right to rectification
  4. Right to deletion (in some circumstances)
  5. Right to object
  6. Right to restrict processing
  7. Right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
